We are very happy to announce the return of Seattle Dogworks’ Signature BOOT CAMP (Board & Train). Whether you’ve just brought home your new puppy or are struggling with adolescent manners, we have a program suited for your dogs’ individual needs.

BOOT CAMP (BOARD & TRAIN)

ADOLESCENTS: 6-18 Months

Whether you’ve had your adolescent dog since puppyhood or he joined your family when he was a little older, training him to have great manners and sound behavior can be a frustrating and daunting task.

WHAT
Adolescent dogs have different behavioral and developmental needs than puppies. Because of this, the Adolescent BOOT CAMP (Board & Train) Program begins with a one-on-one consultation to determine what your goals and needs are, and fully considers your dog’s strengths and challenges. During the initial consultation, you and your trainer will devise an individualized training plan custom built to you and your dog. Common behaviors addressed during Adolescent Board & Train are: basic obedience such as sit, stand, and down, focus and control, recall (come), stay, wait, anti-jump, leash walking, polite greetings, settle & relax, chewing, digging, proper discipline, and general home manners (go-to-mat, counter surfing, etc).

WHERE
During the program, your dog will be a round-the-clock guest of the Seattle Dogworks Training & Education Studio. Every day he will enjoy several intensive training sessions and one-on-one handling by one of our CCS certified trainers. Your dog’s trainer will use the studio, the neighborhood, and community to accomplish training goals set forth during the initial consultation.

HOW
The trainers at Seattle Dogworks are certified through the Seattle School of Canine Studies. This program has gained international recognition as the only program of its kind to earn state licensing (RCW 28C.10) for meeting academic and administrative standards required by the state to operate as a private educational institution. Using methods based in the science of Animal Learning Theory, we adhere to the guidelines set forth for humane training by the American Humane Association (AHA) and techniques approved by the SPCA, ASPCA, RSPCA, HSUS, and the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB).  Our staff stays current in cutting-edge theory and provides a balanced approach to training the companion dog. If you have any questions about our methods, please feel free to contact us.

OTHER
Training starts from the moment your dog passes through our doors. Immediately your dog’s trainer instates a nothing-for-free lifestyle in which he may engage in fun and normal dog activities if he shows good manners and proper behavior. All inappropriate behaviors are managed into appropriate outlets and dog emerge at the end of the program more focused, controlled, happy, confident, and well-behaved.

COST
Adolescent Board & Train Programs may be conducted over 14, 21, or 28 days. The cost of each program is $1899 $2499, and $3299 respectively. The suggested length of program will be determined during the initial consultation and will vary depending on owners goals, and your dog’s strengths.

The following is included: regular trainer updates, weekly one-on-one training sessions (scheduled as private lessons), copy of Good Dog 101, written by Dogworks founder, Cristine Dahl, and 30 days of email and phone support after the program. A $99 1 1/2 hour intake interview appointment will be conducted at the beginning of the program, the cost of which is applied to the program once booked.

Please do not hesitate to CONTACT US should you have any additional questions or concerns or if you wish to book your puppy into the Board & Train Program. Space is limited to only 2 dogs at a time, so don’t wait! PUPPIES: 18 Weeks and Younger
More is known today than at any other time in history about the importance of proper early puppyhood behavior management. Marked by two major developmental stages (12 weeks and 18 weeks) and several minor ones, the course of a puppy’s first 18 weeks can easily be called the most important of all. For more information, see these letters from Purdue and Minnesota veterinary schools. If guided through puppyhood properly, dogs can become enjoyable, safe, sound, members of the family for years to come. However, puppies suffering deficits in socialization, bite inhibition and jaw prudence, proper potty training, and general manners can quickly become a nuisance, a danger, and a source of frustration for families and the communities to which they belong.

We recognize not only the evolving needs of today’s puppies, but the challenges new puppy owners face due in great part to lifestyle circumstances impeding a well rounded development program. We know that your goal is to give your puppy every opportunity to develop into a sound adult dog. But, we also know that work, kids, travel, family, and other commitments can undermine those intentions in short order. To this problem we provide an answer: Puppy BOOT CAMP (Board & Train).

WHERE
Unlike other board and train programs that operate in a kennel setting, your puppy enjoys a one-on-one round-the-clock relationship with one of our CCS certified trainers in a home setting. Each day, with consideration to necessary puppy downtime, your puppy will accompany his trainer as he/she goes about his/her day. All training happens in real life settings; leash training, potty training (with a bell!), chew training, anti-jump, stay, wait, recall (come), and proper greetings. Your puppy will also attend all appropriate play and classes available at Seattle Dogworks during their stay. Several times a week you will be notified of your puppy’s outings and visits are encouraged to meet up with your trainer to visit with your pup. Overnight stays at your home are also possible should you need a puppy-fix during the program.

HOW
The trainers at Seattle Dogworks are certified through the Seattle School of Canine Studies. This program has gained international recognition as the only program of its kind to earn state licensing (RCW 28C.10) for meeting academic and administrative standards required by the state to operate as a private educational institution. WHAT
While in our care, your puppy will receive daily intensive training in: chewing, leash-walking, proper greetings (anti-jump, say ”hi”), stay, home manners (go-to-mat, anti-begging, settle, etc), wait, recall (come), and basic obedience such as sit and down, focus, and control.

Puppies will meet no less than 100 new strangers a week, the minimum number of social interactions suggested for proper socialization, and be exposed to numerous dogs and puppies in safe social settings (not the dog park!). Trainers work daily on aggression prevention including body, resource, and location guarding prophylaxis, alone training (to avoid separation anxiety), acquired bite inhibition (to install a soft mouth), and potty training (with a bell!).

OTHER
Training starts from the moment your puppy passes through our doors. Immediately your puppy’s trainer instates a nothing-for-free lifestyle in which he may engage in fun and normal puppy activities if he shows good manners and proper behavior. All inappropriate behaviors are redirected into appropriate outlets and puppies emerge at the end of the program more focused, controlled, happy, confident, and well-behaved.

COST
The Puppy Board & Train Program is 21 days long, cost is $2499. The following is included: regular trainer updates, weekly one-on-one training sessions (scheduled as private lessons), complimentary play group attendance through 18 weeks of age, copy of Good Dog 101, written by Dogworks founder, Cristine Dahl, and 30 days of email and phone support after the program. A $75 one-hour intake interview appointment will be conducted at the beginning of the program, the cost of which is applied to the program once booked. Owner provides dog food.

Please do not hesitate to CONTACT US should you have any additional questions or concerns or if you wish to book your puppy into the Board & Train Program. Space is limited to only 3 puppies at a time, so don’t wait!
